After asking at my hotel for an elephant safari on the way back from Nilaveli to Negombo, the management kindly arranged for me to be picked up by a Safari Wildtour Jeep en route.
My driver and guide was more than friendly. After we entered Kaudulla National Park, he drove very slowly and carefully to make sure we didn't miss any animal sightings.
He also tried to avoid the most crowded roads and places. We saw quite some wildlife including big herds of elephants. My guide explained some interesting details about them and the other animals we observed.
I especially liked the fact that we never approached the animals too closely but stayed in the background rather respectfully to watch their natural behaviour.
In some very crowded places we passend, several Jeeps chased the elephants and approached them very closely so they showed clear signs of discomfort, stress and even aggression.
The Safari Wildtour guide critizized his colleagues' behaviour in this point. I was very happy about his respectful attitude towards the animals.
Another positive aspect was the driver's patience.
We stayed in the park and at each observation site for quite a long time, so I was able to watch a number of different interesting interactions and scenes among the elephants.
On the way back, we stopped at gorgeous Cinnamon Lodge Habarana where the Safari Wildtour office is located for the payment, and I smoothly continued my drive to Negombo from there.
It was an absolutely fantastic experience, and I couldn't have found a better organization for this adventure.
Many thanks to the Safari Wildtour team for these unforgettable memories.

Sarath at Safari Wildtours was a knowledgeable guide, sensitive to the needs of the animals while also working hard to ensure we were able to see the elephants within the park.
We had a wonderful time during our trip at Minneriya. The day we visited a large number of elephants had moved to Kaudulla. Sarath gave us the option of which park we would like to visit- informing us that at Kaudulla we would see lots of elephants but that there would also be lots of jeeps. We chose to go to Minneriya and saw fewer elephants perhaps but in a more intimate setting.
Sarath was really knowledgeable during our drive through the jungle he pointed out different trees and smaller animals, like the purple faced languor and some of the bird life. When we came out onto the plains and saw the elephants he told us about the ages of the elephants and described to us the dynamics in the group.
On the way out of the park we actually saw a huge bull elephant! It really brought home to us that these elephants have the freedom to roam and migrate between areas- it was incredible to see them in the wild.
Thank you Sarath and Safari Wildtours!

Sarath is easy to get a hold of and fast in communication. I found him on tripadvisor and he is indeed cheaper than most other safari tours. Furthermore, he is kind and speaks decent English.
He picked us up in Pollonaruvva and drove us to minneriya national park. On the way driving there we already saw a wild male elephant walking on the side of the road. Interesting :). Safari was nice but we mainly saw elephants, although alot and also baby elephants. We also water buffalos and lot’s of birds. He has binoculars which is primarily handy for birds. He can tell you all their names although if you are not a bird expert this will not help you :).
He kept us hydrated with water and on the way back to the hotel he treated us to coconut roti at a small shop. It was the best roti we had after 2.5 weeks in Sri Lanka. Also, he arranged a taxi for us to go to negombo the next day.
All in all, the safari is nice and mainly centered around elephants (although other animals like crocs, bears and cats also live there). I would recommend Sarath to anyone for reasons mentioned above!

Sarath was on the ball and found me before I could find him when I arrived in Habarana on my scooter. His 3 hour Jeep tour was 26 USD (excluding park entrance fees of 4500 LKR - about 30 USD!), And far cheaper than everything else I saw online and heard on the ground.
He even lent me money to pay for the entrance (they only accept LKR), bought me an ice water bottle and shared his pineapple with me. Saw about 80 elephants, 2 jackals, 1 buffalo and a sambar deer, plus heaps of birds.

We had the most amazing time on Safari Wildtour in Kadulla National Park seeing over 60 elephants! Our driver, Sarath, was exceptional and had a perfect eyes for spotting the wildlife!
Sarath made sure we were well cared for and we had such a fun time.

Our hotel Aliya booked this tour. The driver picked up at 2:30pm and he drove us to the elephant park he went inside and bought our entry tickets. Then we drove into the park. It took a while to go to the watering hole we saw deer on our way into the park. We got to see the elephants. Lots of elephants. The driver was polite and took a picture of us. And let us borrow his binoculars. There is place where some jeeps got stuck and we got stuck. Lucky we got out of the mud.
The driver was polite and drove us some more into the park he offered to go further into the park. We turned back and it took 20min to get back and out of the park.
